Rotarun

Rotarun Ski Area is a community-focused ski area located three miles west of downtown Hailey, Idaho. Established in 1948, this small mountain has served local snow sports enthusiasts and offers public skiing during the winter season. Its mission is to make skiing accessible and inclusive while celebrating winter sports and mountain-town culture through community outreach, events, and partnerships.

A central offering is Rota-Rippers, a tuition-free learn-to-ski and snowboard program for children ages 5 to 11. Designed to support historically marginalized youth, the program builds skills, confidence, and a lasting interest in winter recreation. It is funded by Rotarun Ski Club, the Sun Valley Ski Education Foundation’s Athlete Endowment Fund, the Kids Mountain Fund, community partners, and donors, and welcomes volunteer coaches. Young athletes seeking further development can explore programs through the Sun Valley Ski Education Foundation.

Rotarun also shares mountain information, operating details, trail maps, webcams, and uphill-use guidance. Community activities include seasonal events and an annual ski swap, while season passes and Rotarun merchandise provide additional ways to enjoy and support the mountain.
