About Rough Magic
Rough Magic is a premier theatre production company based in Ireland, celebrated for its innovative approach since its inception in 1984. With a commitment to fostering emerging talent, Rough Magic has produced over 140 shows, including an impressive array of 44 world premieres and 26 Irish premieres. The company stands out for its diverse programming that encompasses international contemporary works, classic plays, and fresh Irish writing, all while keeping audiences at the forefront of its mission.
In 2021, Rough Magic launched the COMPASS initiative, which enhances its commitment to supporting young theatre artists through play development and partnerships for new commissions. The company has received numerous accolades, including four Irish Times Irish Theatre Awards for Best Production and other prestigious recognitions at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival. Notably, their recent production, Solar Bones, garnered awards for Best Actor and Best Director at the Irish Times Irish Theatre Awards in 2022.
