Rowantree

ROWAN, the Research Group for Wellbeing and Nature, is a collaborative group of researchers, clinicians, students and members of the public exploring the connection between nature and mental health and wellbeing. Its work brings together research and practical approaches to understand how experiences of nature may support wellbeing, resilience and mental health.

The group investigates nature-based interventions for both treatment and prevention, including nature meditation and virtual nature exposure. Its research programme also examines the psychological mechanisms involved, develops and evaluates measures of people’s relationship with nature, and explores how being in nature is experienced and understood. Surveys and longitudinal studies help the group investigate patterns and changes over time.

ROWAN shares research findings and publications, and collaborates with partners on projects, including creative work developed with the Royal Albert Memorial Museum and Art Gallery, Exeter City Council and the University of Exeter.
