Rowena Kinread

Rowena Kinread is an author whose work brings together historical settings, mystery, and adventure. Inspired by her interest in history and family research—including roots connected to Ireland’s Dalriada clan—she writes novels that explore the past through stories of secrets, injustice, and discovery. Her books include The Missionary, The Scots of Dalriada, The Matchstick Boy, and The Alpine Fortress, alongside short stories and a series of murder mysteries set in Munich.

The Matchstick Boy is a historical mystery set in a Swiss valley in the mid-19th century, based on a true story. It follows Jakob’s search for justice as long-buried secrets emerge across decades. The Alpine Fortress offers an adventure involving hidden maps, stolen Nazi treasure, and a dangerous pursuit through the Alps. Kinread’s recent short-story release, Murder at the October-Festival: Where the Beer Flows, Secrets Linger, features nurse Steffi and Commissar Anderson amid Munich’s Oktoberfest.
