Royal Light Festival

Royal Light Festival Apeldoorn is an annual, five-day light art festival that brings contemporary culture and the city’s history together through installations across Apeldoorn. Its fourth edition took place from 11 to 15 March 2026 and was free to attend. Under the theme “Full Color,” international, national and regional artists explored how color can connect people, inspire surprise and give new meaning to urban spaces. The artworks reflected ideas including diversity, transformation, the transition from winter to spring, the relationship between nature and the city, and the value of making room for differences.

Festival installations appeared at locations such as Paleis Het Loo, the Grote Kerk, Orpheus and Raadhuisplein. The program included works such as Vectors of Light, Patterns In Nature and Our Beating Heart. The festival offers visitors an opportunity to experience Apeldoorn through illuminated public art, while also providing information for media and inviting businesses, schools and clubs to discuss partnership or program contributions.
