Royal Statistical Society

The Royal Statistical Society (RSS) is a professional body and learned society that champions statistics and data for the public good. It brings together statisticians, data professionals, researchers, educators and others interested in using evidence responsibly. Members can access professional development and qualifications, including routes to Graduate Statistician, Chartered Statistician and Data Science Professional status, as well as sections, local groups, volunteering opportunities and a professional register.

The RSS supports the field through training, public courses, online learning and in-company programmes covering statistics, data science, programming, machine learning and related skills. It also runs conferences, webinars, lectures and other events, and publishes journals and magazines, including Significance and its open-access journal on data science and artificial intelligence. Its policy and research work addresses topics such as public statistics, artificial intelligence, public understanding and the use of data in society. The Society also provides resources for journalists, educators and the public, maintains a consultants directory, and promotes the contribution of statistics through campaigns, awards and engagement with government.
