Ruatoria City Sports Club is a community-focused rugby club based in Ruatoria, New Zealand. Established in 1922, it has built a proud legacy as one of the country’s smallest rugby clubs, continuing to serve its community despite urban migration and a declining player pool. The club’s purpose is to build community and connect whānau through sport, welcoming players, supporters and fans.
Its teams include JAB rugby, senior women’s Honey Bees and senior men’s rugby. The JAB programme offers opportunities for younger players, with information available from the club’s delegate. The senior women made the 2025 Hamoterangi Cup final, a notable turnaround after a run of losses since 2023, and the club invites registrations for the 2026 team. The senior men reached the NPEC Men’s Club final in 2024, their first appearance since 1982.
Ruatoria City Sports Club welcomes people interested in joining, supporting the teams or becoming sponsors. It is located at 38 Tuparoa Road, Ruatoria, and can be contacted by email at [email protected].
