Ruderverein für das Große Freie e. V. is a rowing club based in Sehnde, serving the Lehrte and Sehnde area. With around 150 members, approximately two-thirds of whom are active, the club welcomes rowing as both a recreational and family sport. Its location beside the Mittelland Canal provides access to mostly straight, calm water suited to training, with the Anderten lock about 10 kilometres to the west. The club’s fleet of more than 50 boats supports a broad range of activities for members of different ages and experience levels.

Alongside regular rowing and training, the club organizes touring trips on waterways in Germany and abroad. It also competes successfully in national and international rowing marathons. Children and young people can take part in training and compete at regional and wider-area regattas, where the club’s juniors have achieved strong results. Those interested can arrange a trial rowing session to discover the sport and the club.
