RUFORUM, the Regional Universities Forum for Capacity Building in Agriculture, is an African higher-education network focused on agricultural innovation, science-led development, and human capital growth. Founded in 2004, it brings together 175 universities in 40 countries, working with strategic partners to strengthen African higher agricultural education and support institutional reform. Its membership spans Central, Eastern, Northern, Southern, and Western Africa, with regional hubs that help coordinate activities and tailor support to local needs.
RUFORUM’s work includes human capacity strengthening, building resilient communities, strategic partnership and advocacy, and integrating knowledge and technology. Through these programmes, the network supports science leaders and advances solutions for development across the continent. It also shares research, opportunities, publications, annual reports, briefing notes, news, and impact stories, and provides platforms including RIMS, Elearning, SafeNest, and the We Digest weekly update. RUFORUM convenes member universities and partners through events such as its Annual General Meeting; the 22nd AGM is scheduled for November–December 2026 in Lusaka, Zambia.
