Rug Maker is a St Albans, Hertfordshire-based rug manufacturer and retailer established in 1989 by Julian Blair and Richard Mathias. The company began by specialising in high-quality oriental carpets and later developed a bespoke service for customers seeking rugs tailored to their own designs, colours and dimensions. Its handmade contemporary rugs are produced in Nepal, with options including oversized and circular designs.

Rug Maker also stocks and makes to order modern, traditional and decorative rugs, including Nepalese rugs, Indian flatweaves and gelims, Persian carpets, Chinese tapestries, cowhide rugs and Royal Mail Stamp Rugs. The Stamp Rug Collection is produced under an official Royal Mail licence, and the company has created a commemorative range with The British Library. Customers can use Rug Maker’s online design tool to select and recolour a rug design.
