Rural Common is a virtual public space in Hong Kong that focuses on rural conservation and innovation. It is a collaborative effort between MaD (Make a Difference) and The Common Map, with funding from the Rural Conservation Office. The platform aims to collect stories from rural villages in the Ching Chun area and nearby, using anthropological methods to understand traditional wisdom.

It also integrates existing rural projects to create a comprehensive picture of the diverse countryside. With a one-stop platform for rural revitalization information, Rural Common promotes cultural preservation, especially for the last generation growing up in traditional villages. By showcasing village stories and wisdom through visual storytelling, the platform collects and preserves precious rural memories.

Through this initiative, they hope to foster public understanding, engagement, and support for rural conservation and sustainable development. With respect for local culture and residents, Rural Common aims to create a more inclusive and sustainable future for rural communities
