Ruru House is a purpose-built early learning centre in the countryside near Lepperton, Taranaki, offering childcare for tamariki aged from birth to six years. Its child-centred approach combines qualified, experienced kaiako with spacious indoor and outdoor environments designed to encourage curiosity, relationships and hands-on learning. Children can take part in activities such as baking, gardening, crafts, woodwork and exploring the natural surroundings, while shared meals provide time to connect and talk about the day.
The centre values whanaungatanga, building open, positive partnerships with whānau and welcoming families into its learning community. Care includes home-cooked meals, cloth nappies, wipes, sunscreen and learning journals. Ruru House also supports children to care for living things and their environment, with a commitment to minimising waste.
It offers three-, four- and five-day enrolment options, with session lengths and fees varying by age group. The centre participates in the Government’s 20 Hours ECE scheme for eligible children aged three to five, and families may also be able to access other childcare support.
