Rush Judo is a family-run club in Berkhamsted, Hertfordshire, offering judo to people across the community. Established in November 2009, the club grew from the Rush family’s ambition to give back to the sport and is named in memory of Gordon Rush, whose generosity helped make it possible. Its welcoming approach is designed for a wide range of participants, from beginners and children to pensioners, recreational judoka and competition players. Rush Judo also specialises in teaching people with learning disabilities, working in partnership with Dacorum Mencap.
The club’s dojo is at Ashlyns School, where an old gym was converted into a modern training space with a sprung floor and a seating area for parents. Judo at Rush Judo supports physical fitness, self-defence and the development of lasting friendships. Newcomers can book a free trial lesson to experience the club before joining. The website also provides lesson information, frequently asked questions, new starter guidance and a club shop.
