Ruta de los Parques de la Patagonia is a scenic travel and conservation initiative connecting 18 national parks across 2,800 kilometres, from Puerto Montt to Cape Horn in Chile. It presents Patagonia as a destination where protected nature, local cultures and responsible tourism are closely linked. The route safeguards 12 million hectares and encompasses 24 ecosystems, providing habitat for diverse wildlife, including 140 bird species and 46 mammal species.
The initiative helps visitors plan journeys through the region’s maritime and land routes, with park information, suggested itineraries, videos and resources for tour operators. Sample trips range from five-day explorations of Aysén’s glaciers and lakes to longer journeys through mountain landscapes, steppes and channels. Featured parks include Pumalín Douglas Tompkins, Patagonia, Cerro Castillo and Torres del Paine, where visitors can discover forests, trekking circuits, valleys and glaciers.
Ruta de los Parques also highlights the more than 60 communities along the route and promotes economic development grounded in conservation and nature-based tourism.
