Roger Smith OBE

Roger W. Smith Ltd is an independent British watchmaking house led by Roger W. Smith OBE, one of the world’s leading independent watchmakers. A protégé of George Daniels, Smith creates rare, handmade mechanical watches using the Daniels Method, crafting each piece in-house from initial sketch to finished watch. The workshop produces only around fifteen to twenty watches a year, and each is made to order; some take more than two years to complete. This careful approach reflects Smith’s commitment to traditional hand-finishing, enduring quality and the continued development of mechanical watchmaking.

The collection includes six series, offering designs and complications ranging from time-only displays to power reserves, retrograde calendars, triple calendars, moon phases and instantaneous dates. Notable features include the travelling date aperture and the ongoing development of the co-axial escapement, which aims to improve mechanical efficiency and longevity. Based in the Isle of Man, the brand also supports the revival of British horology.
