About Sabre
**SSAA Sabre Association**
The SSAA, or Sabre Sailing Association, promotes and supports the Sabre Class, one of Australia's most prominent single-handed sailing dinghies, designed by Rex Fettell in 1974. Since its inception, nearly 2,300 boat plans have been issued, making it a key fixture in the Australian sailing community across 36 clubs nationwide. The Sabre is recognized as a training class for budding sailors, with numerous successful competitors emerging on the global stage, including Olympic representatives and world champions.
The Association is dedicated to fostering growth in the Sabre Class through comprehensive support, including regular regattas, construction assistance, and expert coaching. The class is known for its accessibility, offering well-constructed boats that are easy to transport and maintain. The Sabre’s design allows for excellent performance even under challenging conditions, catering to a wide range of sailors. With various competitions for differing age groups and levels, the SSAA promotes a vibrant community for both novice and experienced sailors alike.
