About The Singapore Association for the Deaf (SADeaf)
The Singapore Association for the Deaf (SADeaf) is the leading organisation in Singapore dedicated to serving the d/Deaf, h/Hard-of-Hearing and DeafBlind community.
With a rich history spanning 68 years, SADeaf offers a wide range of core programmes to support individuals with hearing loss.
Their Community Integration Support Services comprises the Community Services (CS) and Itinerant Support Services (ISS).
CS provides social work, counselling, community engagement, financial aid application assistance, job placement, oversees the DeafBlind programme and the membership programme.
ISS provides learning support and speech therapy for students with hearing loss.
The Hearing Care Centre (HCC) delivers comprehensive hearing care services, including tests, consultations, ear moulds, and hearing aids.
Their Deaf Access Services (DAS) includes the Communication Access (CommAccess), the Deaf Studies (DS) and the Deaf Education (DE) departments.
CommAccess provides professional Sign Language Interpretation Services, Notetaking Services, and Deaf advocacy services.
DS offers Singapore Sign Language (SgSL) workshops, Deaf Awareness Programme talks, and oversees the SgSL Sign Bank.
DE oversees the Little Hands Bilingual-Bicultural Programme (LHBBP) which caters to children with hearing loss below 7 years old.
DE supports Teachers of the Deaf in Deaf Education Courses, dispatches Specialised Teachers (SpTs) and Educational Interpreters (EIs) to Mayflower Primary School, and Resource Teachers (RTs) to Beatty Secondary School.
SADeaf fosters a strong Deaf community through fundraising and awareness events, such as their annual charity concert and Deaf Achievers Awards.
