Dobson Equine is a Sorø-based maker of handcrafted leather equipment for horses, with a particular focus on breeds and types with short backs, including Icelandic horses, Fjord horses and Arabians. Founded by Ditte Dobson, the brand developed its signature Comfort Saddle to address the fit challenges faced by short-backed, round-bodied horses and their riders. Each saddle is made to order for the individual horse and rider, with features including a short contact area, wool flocking that can be adjusted by a saddler, a replaceable tree, a broad channel and a monoflap design. Customers can borrow a saddle for a two-day trial before deciding, and the tree comes with a 10-year guarantee.

The range also includes handmade bridles and interchangeable browbands in genuine leather. Bridles feature ergonomically shaped headpieces designed to reduce pressure around the ears and poll, while browbands are available in different leather colours, sizes and stone styles.
