The Verein für Sächsische Landesgeschichte is an association dedicated to the history and culture of Saxony. It brings together historians and members of the public interested in the region’s past, current historical research and educational work. The association supports people pursuing local-history research and offers opportunities to take part in regional history projects.

Its programme includes lectures, excursions, workshops and participatory activities, with events held in locations including Dresden, Leipzig, Chemnitz and Rochlitz. The association also publishes research and resources through its Saxonia series, Sächsische Heimatblätter, member communications and the Wie geht sächsisch? series. These publications explore Saxon history across different periods and topics.

The association promotes emerging scholarship through the Hubert-Ermisch Prize, awarded to outstanding student theses on Saxon history and culture. It may also help prize recipients find a publication opportunity for their work. Membership, events, publications and a newsletter provide ways for people to engage with the association and follow its activities. Through these offerings, it connects academic expertise with public interest in Saxony’s history.
