Safe Spaces Nairobi is a transformative nonprofit organization dedicated to educating, engaging, and empowering young girls in the Eastland slums of Nairobi. Founded by Peninah Nthenya Musyimi in 2008, the organization began with just three girls and has grown to support over 1,200 young women, helping them break the cycle of poverty, violence, and exclusion.

Safe Spaces provides a nurturing environment where girls can learn essential skills, gain confidence, and develop into leaders within their communities. The mission emphasizes empowerment through education, promoting the idea that “I am the change.” Comprehensive programs focus on personal development, health education, and life skills, aimed at reducing the systemic barriers that girls face, such as forced early marriage and exploitation.
