About SAHMRI
SAHMRI (South Australia’s flagship independent not-for-profit health and medical research institute) is dedicated to delivering better and more equitable healthcare. Our institute focuses on four major research themes to address the biggest health challenges. The first theme, Aboriginal Health Equity, aims to understand and reduce health inequalities among Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities.
Lifelong Health, our second theme, targets chronic diseases that impact us throughout our lives, such as heart conditions, diabetes, dementia, and mental illness. Our Precision Cancer Medicine theme investigates personalized treatment options based on individual response to diseases and therapies. Lastly, Women and Kids focuses on promoting optimal health for children from conception through the early stages of life, ensuring their physical and cognitive development.
