Founded in 1982, the South African Institute for Computer Scientists and Information Technologists (SAICSIT) aims to: • ENHANCE research and development collaboration with other professional bodies; • SUPPORT education and training; • SEEK solutions to technical and socio-economic problems in South Africa by means of research and development projects; • STRIVE for professionalism and excellence. Membership Application: Membership applications shall be through the Institute’s website. Applications will be considered and approved or declined by the member(s) of the Council so designated for the task. Entrance Fees and Subscriptions: • There are no membership fees. • There is no membership certificate available. Conferences: The 46th Annual Conference of the South African Institute of Computer Scientists and Information Technologists (SAICSIT) will be hosted at the Coastlands Umhlanga Hotel from July 17th to 18th, 2025, as an in-person conference. This edition of the conference is co-hosted by the Discipline of Information Systems and Technology and the Discipline of Computer Science, at the University of KwaZulu-Natal. The conference remains the pinnacle South African event for computing professionals and the theme for this edition is: “Sustainable Digital Intelligent Frontiers” where we will engage with research around advancements in sustainable technological innovation.

About SAICSIT
SA Institute of Computer Scientists and Information Technologists (SAICSIT) is a leading organization in South Africa dedicated to research and development in the field of computing and information technology. With a mission to enhance communication, support education and training, and seek solutions to technical and socio-economic problems, SAICSIT aims for professionalism and excellence among its members. One of the key activities of SAICSIT is the annual conference, which has been held since 1985, providing a platform for knowledge sharing and networking.
Additionally, SAICSIT founded and supports the South African Computer Journal (SACJ), an accredited specialist ICT academic journal. SACJ publishes research articles, technical reports, and communications in the domains of Computer Science and Information Systems. The journal is recognized on Scopus and is eligible for subsidy for articles published by South African academics at public universities.
