Welcome to CentOS, the Community ENTerprise Operating System. CentOS is an Enterprise-class Linux Distribution that is derived from the freely provided sources of Red Hat, Inc. for Red Hat Enterprise Linux. The goal of CentOS is to be functionally compatible with Red Hat, while removing upstream vendor branding and artwork. Developed by a small yet dedicated team of core developers, CentOS is supported by a large and active user community consisting of system administrators, network administrators, enterprise users, managers, core Linux contributors, and Linux enthusiasts from all around the globe.

CentOS offers a range of advantages, including an extensive mirror network, quickly rebuilt and tested errata packages, contactable and responsive developers, and Special Interest Groups (SIGs) that enhance the core CentOS distribution with additional functionality. The community support avenues provided by CentOS include a wiki, IRC Chat, Email Lists, Forums, a Bugs Database, and an FAQ. With CentOS, you have access to a robust and reliable Linux distribution backed by a vibrant and passionate community.
