Sail Birmingham is an initiative by Midland Sailing Club, helping people in Birmingham and the surrounding area get active on the water. Based at Edgbaston Reservoir, near the city centre, it operates as a Royal Yachting Association (RYA)-recognised training centre and aims to make sailing accessible to everyone. Its programmes run for most of the year and welcome complete beginners as well as sailors looking to refresh or develop their skills.
The centre offers RYA adult sailing courses at Levels 1, 2 and 3, along with youth sailing and Sailability sessions. These activities provide opportunities to learn sailing, build confidence on the water and try an outdoor sport in the West Midlands. Sailability supports accessible participation, with dedicated sessions and enquiries for people with special educational needs and disabilities. Sail Birmingham also provides information about its equipment, courses and calendar, and can be contacted to ask about programmes or book a Sailability session.
