SailorDolphin is a research and documentation project focused on dolphins and whales observed along the US East Coast and throughout the Bahamas. Created from observations made by Cirdan while sailing aboard the vessel S/V Cirdan, the website makes a personal cetacean database accessible to researchers. It organizes identified animals and sightings, with searchable records, maps, and tools for exploring observations by individual dolphin, species, location, or sighting.

Profiles include identification photos of dorsal fins, tails, heads, and bodies where available. Sighting records may include photographs, audio and video, behavioral observations, environmental details, and links to identified cetaceans. The site also provides data extraction and statistical features, plus information on consistently observed companions.

Its data is supplied to the Bahamas Marine Mammal Research Organization and Duke University’s SEAMAP/MADBC, offering a resource for studying cetacean distribution and sightings. Selected high-quality photographs are available for purchase, and some audio and video content can be viewed on SailorDolphin’s YouTube channel
