Sains Hall School of Equitation

Sains Hall School of Equitation is a friendly riding school based in Great Totham, near Maldon, Essex. Led by instructor Rachel Howie, the school aims to provide a fun, safe environment where adults and children can learn to ride properly. Rachel brings many years of teaching experience, and the school’s well-mannered, carefully handled ponies are suited to lessons and riding activities.

The school offers private and group riding lessons for adults and children, with private sessions starting at £45 for 30 minutes and group lessons from £30 for 30 minutes. Riders can also enjoy hacking on local tracks and in a forest available exclusively to the school. Its Pony Club welcomes riders of different ages and experience levels, with opportunities to develop riding and stable-management skills. Pony days run from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., including pony care and a one-hour lesson or hack. Some holiday sessions accommodate less experienced riders with assistance, while weekend days suit more independent participants. Sains Hall is located on Church Road in Great Totham.
