Sakarak Charters

Sakarak Charters is a Rhode Island fishing charter business led by Capt. Mitch Chagnon, a native Rhode Islander and second-generation captain with more than 50 years of experience on the water. Based at Point Judith, the charter operates from June 1 through mid-October and welcomes families, groups of friends, and experienced anglers. Capt. Mitch holds a B.S. in Marine Science, with a concentration in Biology, and fishes in Sarasota, Florida, during the winter months.

Trips aboard the Sakarak, a 26-foot Fortier bass boat, accommodate four to five anglers, with four providing the most comfortable experience. Tackle is supplied, and the boat is equipped with radar, fish finders, and Coast Guard-required safety equipment. Fishing grounds include Block Island and nearby Rhode Island waters, where seasonal catches may include striped bass, tuna, fluke, black sea bass, bluefish, bonito, mahi-mahi, and tautog. Options include a four-hour beach trip, a six-hour Block Island trip, and a ten-hour offshore trip. Each catch is filleted and bagged for guests to take home.
