Sakura Festival

The Copenhagen Sakura Festival is a vibrant cultural celebration held annually in Langelinie Park, Denmark, dedicated to honoring the beauty of cherry blossoms, or Sakura. Founded in February 2008, the festival was inspired by the generous donation of 200 Sakura trees from Mr. Seiichi Takaki, President of the Andersen Institute of Bread & Life, alongside support from the Japanese Embassy and the Municipality of Copenhagen.

This event aims to foster connection and community by bringing together people of all backgrounds to appreciate the fleeting beauty of the Sakura bloom, reminiscent of traditional Japanese customs where friends and families gather under the blossoming trees. The festival is supported by esteemed figures, including the Ambassador of Japan to Denmark and the Lord Mayor of Copenhagen, reflecting its significance in promoting cultural exchange and understanding. Participants can enjoy a diverse program featuring cultural performances, food stalls, and community gatherings, making it a must-visit event for locals and visitors alike.
