The South Australian Living Artists (SALA) Festival is a renowned statewide celebration of visual art. Established in 1998, its primary goal is to promote and honor the vast pool of talented visual artists in South Australia, making it the world's largest open access visual arts festival. The inclusive nature of SALA allows artists of all levels and mediums to participate, fostering a vibrant and diverse arts community.

The festival runs throughout the entire month of August and encompasses over 600 venues, engaging more than 9,000 artists from across the state. In addition to showcasing exhibitions in galleries and non-traditional arts spaces, SALA also organizes a range of events such as art tours, including bilingual and regional bus tours. Furthermore, SALA actively supports visual artists by offering prestigious awards and residencies.
