About SALAR International
SALAR International, as part of the Swedish Association of Local Authorities and Regions (SALAR), is a global organization dedicated to promoting democracy and good governance at the local level. As one of the oldest and strongest local government associations worldwide, SALAR leverages its experience in Swedish local self-governance to strategically partner with and support local governments around the world. With a rights-based approach, SALAR International provides tailored services, sharing expertise and promoting dialogue to meet the specific needs and interests of its partners.
By actively participating in European and worldwide networks of local government organizations, SALAR International connects technical and political expertise, collaborating with ministries, agencies, municipalities, regions, civil society organizations, and academia. Its projects are typically funded by Swedish and international donor agencies. Additionally, SALAR utilizes a whistle-blower function to swiftly identify and address any misconduct that may endanger its operations or employees.
