Salt Spring Apple Company Ltd is a dynamic partnership dedicated to revitalizing the rich heritage of apple cultivation on Salt Spring Island, British Columbia. Founded by Peri Lavender and Brian Webster, with the support of their orchard manager and a community of volunteers, the company emphasizes organic, sustainable farming practices to produce high-quality apples. Salt Spring was once a major supplier of apples in the region, known for its fertile soil and favorable climate. However, the rise of industrial agriculture led to a decline in local apple production. The company aims to reverse this trend by cultivating over 365 heritage and connoisseur apple varieties, focusing on distinct flavors and organic methods.
In addition to fresh apples, Salt Spring Apple Company offers a selection of cider and apple-based treats, appealing to consumers who value locally sourced, artisanal products. Committed to fostering a connection between their customers and the land, they are helping restore the island's agricultural prominence while promoting a mindful approach to food consumption.
