Salvinos J R Models is a brand that brings together two old friends, Rick and Jim, who have a shared passion for creating high-quality model cars. Their journey started in 1989 when they were introduced by their mutual friend David Berger. Back then, Rick was establishing a sports figurine company and needed a skilled sculptor, which Jim happened to be.

Jim already had an impressive 35-year career sculpting licensed Disney, Lucasfilm, Warner Bros., and DreamWorks toy and collectible prototypes. Although their businesses initially took separate paths, they remained friends. It wasn't until after two decades that they decided to combine their talents and start a new venture producing injection molded products.

Initially faced with challenges like Jim relocating from California and adapting to computer-aided design (CAD), they eventually found their niche in creating model cars, specifically focusing on NASCAR. With Rick's deep-rooted passion and knowledge of NASCAR, and their successful partnerships with renowned teams like Richard Petty and Hendrick Racing, Salvinos J R Models has established itself as a go-to brand in the model kit hobby. Since releasing their first kit, the Buddy Baker Gray Ghost, in July 2018, they have continued to impress by launching 40 kits and obtaining licenses with General Motors, Chrysler, Nascar, and other esteemed teams.
