Samaritans Cycle organizes an annual charity cycling sportive in the Chilterns to raise funds for Chiltern Samaritans. Established in 2017, the event attracts hundreds of riders and offers a welcoming way for club cyclists, social riders and fundraising participants to enjoy the area’s scenic routes. Riders can choose from three distances: 40 km, 80 km or 130 km, with routes passing through the Chiltern Hills and the Chilterns Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. E-bikes are welcome, and the courses are marked with directional arrows and warning signs to help participants navigate junctions and route splits.
The sportive includes feed stations along the way, and riders who complete a route receive a glass of local ale and a burger at the finish. Participants who raise £200 in sponsorship can receive a refund of their registration fee. Samaritans Cycle also welcomes support from sponsors, helpers and volunteers, and provides event information such as route details, riders’ briefings, and results and photographs from previous events. Proceeds support the work of Chiltern Samaritans.
