About Samburu Girls FDN
Samburu Girls Foundation is a life-saving organization dedicated to rescuing and empowering young girls in Kenya. Founded by the inspiring Dr. Josephine Kulea, the foundation aims to put an end to the horrifying acts of rape, abuse, and mutilation that many girls face in their communities.
Dr. Josephine's journey began when she rescued her own cousin from a forced marriage to a much older man. Determined to make a difference, she opened her home to provide shelter for more girls seeking rescue.
As the number of girls grew, she realized the need for support and started reaching out to her friends, church, and community for help. In 2011, she officially registered the Samburu Girls Foundation, known as SGF, as a non-governmental organization. Since then, the foundation has expanded its reach to four counties in Kenya: Samburu, Marsabit, Isiolo, and Laikipia.
Dr. Josephine's outstanding work has earned her numerous awards, including being recognized as an unsung hero, receiving the Head of State Commendation, and being named UN Person of the Year. She has also been commended by President Obama for her impactful contributions.
Through their programs, Samburu Girls Foundation provides education, healthcare, and vocational training to empower these resilient girls and give them a chance at a brighter future. With your support, SGF can continue to save lives and break the cycle of abuse and injustice. Get involved today and be part of this incredible movement
