Sammen is the student welfare organisation for more than 40,000 students across Western Norway. Its mission is to help students enjoy a rewarding time during their studies by providing practical services, social opportunities and support. Sammen owns and operates student housing, fitness centres, cafés and other dining venues, as well as kindergartens.
It also offers health services, including mental health support, and career guidance to help students navigate the transition from study to work. The organisation supports student associations and provides information about student benefits, events, courses and activities. Its venues and services are intended to serve students as well as, in some cases, the surrounding community; for example, Posthuset at Fantoft is a meeting place for students and neighbours, offering coffee, food and smoothies.
Sammen’s surplus is returned to students, and its board chair is always a student, reflecting the organisation’s student-focused structure. Through this broad range of services, Sammen supports everyday student life both on campus and beyond
