Sampsa is the student association for agricultural sciences students at the University of Helsinki. Founded in 1907, it has supported generations of students, particularly on the Viikki campus, by building community, supporting their university journey and engaging with changes and issues in the agricultural sector. The association organizes social, educational and cultural activities throughout the year.
Traditional events include freshman sitsit, anniversary celebrations, Christmas parties and an annual spring excursion to different regions of Finland. Members may also take part in agricultural visits abroad, volunteer activities and campus events such as Viikki’s Päivä maalla and Laitumelle lasku. Sampsa’s subject-based clubs and committees offer activities for different interests, including study groups and educational trips, international opportunities, culture and sports.
The association also publishes Sampsa magazine and Maatiais, with four annual issues of Sampsa magazine available online. For agricultural companies, Sampsa provides an avenue to explore collaboration with students. Through its events and community, the association connects future agricultural professionals with one another and with organizations in their field
