The brand was born out of the founders' frustration with crowded local gyms and their desire to set up a home gym that offered high-quality and affordable equipment. Unable to find suitable options in Australia, they decided to become the Australian distributor for Powertec and Ironmaster products.

Despite having no prior experience, warehouse, or website, their passion for training and belief in the product drove them to succeed. The brand started in a small warehouse in St Peters, Sydney, and quickly expanded to a larger warehouse in Banksmeadow. Even during tough times like the Global Financial Crisis, the demand for Powertec and Ironmaster products remained high, thanks to their excellent value.

The founders, now with three children, continued to grow the business and even became involved in product development, visiting the Powertec factory in Shanghai. In addition to gym equipment, Sam's Fitness also offers training aids, accessories, and gym wear.
