Sanctuary Dierbaar

Sanctuary Dierbaar is an animal sanctuary in Laren, Gelderland, offering a caring home to more than 90 animals rescued from emergencies, severe neglect, or the intensive farming industry. Its residents include hens, roosters, broiler chickens, male chicks saved from slaughter, goats, and other animals. The sanctuary supports them as they recover, regain confidence, and express their individual personalities. By welcoming visitors to meet the animals, Dierbaar hopes to foster empathy and encourage people to view farmed animals with greater understanding.

The sanctuary also provides a peaceful, nature-rich place for people to connect with animals, find calm, and take part in light, suitable activities. Visitors can meet the residents, enjoy the green surroundings, learn about healthy plant-based food, and join walks or volunteer workdays. Plant-based meals are sometimes offered in collaboration with restaurants and caterers. People can support the sanctuary by donating, volunteering, adopting an animal from a distance, or contributing to projects. Regular medical care is essential for the animals, and donations help cover ongoing veterinary costs.
