What started as a small initiative offering free food to 8-12 people each day from a commercial café quickly evolved into something much greater.

In 2012, Sanctus officially became a charitable entity and expanded its services to provide comprehensive support to the homeless community. Recognizing the complexities of homelessness, Sanctus began offering advocacy, signposting, benefits support, and additional activities to address the diverse needs of its service users.

Over the years, Sanctus has grown exponentially, with a dedicated team and a strong network of volunteers and supporters. In 2019, the organization took another leap forward with the establishment of the Sanctus Hub, a dedicated space for support and signposting services.

During the challenging times brought on by the pandemic, Sanctus remained open as an essential service, continuing to feed and support the vulnerable. In response to the increased demand for its services, Sanctus made a bold decision to relocate to larger premises on Broomfield Road in 2020. This new space allowed for the expansion of the café, the Hub, and the accommodation of other organizations and charities, creating a comprehensive support system for those in need.

With over 10 years of experience, Sanctus has developed a deep understanding of the issues faced by the vulnerable population and has become a trusted resource in the community. The organization relies on a dedicated team of staff members, including an ex-service user, and over 50 committed volunteers.
