The Sanitus Foundation is a social solidarity organisation based in Porto, Portugal, developing national and international strategies for global health promotion and education since 2005. Its work focuses on prevention, well-being, inclusion and community support, with activities spanning health education, social projects and professional development. The foundation organises congresses, courses and training for health professionals and the public, and produces educational materials on relevant health topics, including prevention, work, disability and ageing.

Its initiatives include VitaBalance-MED, an inclusive global health and prevention project addressing cardiovascular health, obesity and social inclusion. The project uses a framework of five health pyramids covering prevention, nutrition, exercise, behaviour and the social ecosystem, and involves teachers, students and families. Sanitus also provides the Portal das Doenças, a resource for people seeking reliable information about health conditions.

Through its projects, events, publications and digital resources, the foundation aims to share knowledge, encourage healthy habits and support individuals and communities experiencing vulnerability. It also promotes the concept of “Handi-Capabilities” through research and development activities
