San Juan Hut Systems

San Juan Hut Systems is a Ridgway, Colorado-based provider of hut-to-hut backcountry adventures across the San Juan Mountains and surrounding regions, extending toward Moab, Utah. For more than thirty years, the organization has supported independent travelers seeking low-impact, human-powered outdoor experiences at a practical price. Its network includes 16 remote mountain huts, offering a comfortable place to rest between days on the trail.

Trips include mountain biking, hiking, skiing, and snowshoeing. Featured biking routes include Durango to Moab, Durango to Paradox, Telluride to Moab, Telluride to Gateway, the Gravel Grinder, and the Tour of the Canyons. Hikers can explore the Sneffels Traverse, while ski hut options include Last Dollar, North Pole, Blue Lakes, Ridgway, Burn, and Spring Creek. The company helps travelers plan and arrange journeys, with information on routes, maps, trails, terrain, and huts. Its trips cross varied landscapes, from high alpine country near Telluride, Ouray, and Durango to the slickrock terrain around Moab, supported by trails and huts in several national forests and public lands.
