About 三溪園
Sankeien Garden is a historic Japanese garden in Honmoku, Naka Ward, Yokohama, created by businessman and tea master Hara Sankei. Its spacious grounds make thoughtful use of the natural terrain, bringing seasonal flowers, water, and traditional architecture together in a tranquil landscape. The garden contains 17 historic buildings, including 10 designated Important Cultural Properties of Japan and three buildings designated as tangible cultural properties by Yokohama City.
Many structures were relocated from other parts of Japan, and visitors can explore them alongside the garden’s history, collection of artworks, walking routes, and visitor information. Sankeien offers seasonal events, exhibitions, guided opportunities, and updates on flowers in bloom. On-site experiences include dining and shopping for souvenirs.
The historic buildings and grounds are also available for weddings and pre-wedding photography, meetings, parties, exhibitions, and filming. Managed by the Sankeien Hoshoukai Foundation, the garden invites visitors to discover Japanese cultural heritage and enjoy the changing scenery throughout the year
