Santa Cruz Valley Historical Society

Arizona’s Santa Cruz Valley Historical Society (SCVHS) is an IRS-recognized 501(c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to collecting, preserving, and sharing the history of the Santa Cruz Valley and greater Sahuarita area. Formed in 2023 as a next step following the publication of a community history book, the Society works to protect local stories, documents, photographs, structures, and artifacts from being lost over time. Its primary area of focus includes communities within the Sahuarita Unified and Continental Elementary school district boundaries, including Green Valley, Sahuarita, Continental, Amado, and nearby rural areas.

SCVHS makes local history accessible through digital archives, historical maps and photographs, research resources, school records, cemetery and census information, and educational projects. Its programs include the “History All Around Us” speaker series, historical marker initiatives, community events, and guest presentations. The Society also invites residents to join, volunteer, provide financial support, and donate artifacts, yearbooks, documents, photographs, or personal recollections. It offers to scan treasured historical materials to help preserve them for research and community education.
