Sant’Agostino Coop

Sant’Agostino Cooperativa Sociale is a nonprofit social cooperative based in Pavia, Italy, and affiliated with ANFFAS. Founded in 1981 by parents of children with disabilities, it works to promote the well-being, rights, dignity and social inclusion of people with intellectual and relational disabilities and their families. Its mission emphasizes equal opportunity, non-discrimination and support for a life that is as independent as possible.

The cooperative manages Samarkanda, a daytime Socio-Educational Centre for people with intellectual disabilities and relational or physical difficulties who do not require healthcare services. Accredited by the Municipality of Pavia, the centre provides individualized educational projects and activities designed to develop abilities, autonomy, self-esteem and social participation. Its programme includes cooking, arts and crafts, basic computer skills, theatre, yoga, swimming, reading and writing, personal care, and individual and group activities focused on relationships. Participants also explore their local area and take part in social inclusion projects with community organizations. Through these services, Sant’Agostino supports personal development and helps families access suitable educational and social care.
