About The Bay Foundation
The Bay Foundation is a private-public partnership committed to the preservation, restoration, and improvement of coastal Los Angeles. They are dedicated to ensuring a high quality of life for the diverse species and millions of visitors who call Santa Monica Bay and its watershed home. As part of the Santa Monica Bay National Estuary Program (SMBNEP), they work collaboratively to implement a Comprehensive Conservation and Management Plan (CCMP), which outlines priorities and actions to protect and restore these coastal waters.
The Bay Foundation comprises two entities: the Santa Monica Bay Restoration Commission (SMBRC) and The Bay Foundation (TBF). The SMBRC, a non-regulatory state entity, is responsible for monitoring, coordinating, and advising programs that affect the beneficial uses, restoration, and enhancement of Santa Monica Bay and its watersheds. TBF, a non-profit organization, serves as the host entity for SMBNEP, working to improve water quality, conserve natural resources, and protect the bay's benefits and values through partnerships and actions.
To support their work, TBF receives federal grants from the U. S. EPA and donations from other entities.
