SantoQueijo is a family-founded artisan dairy and cheese brand based in Santo da Serra, Madeira. Its roots lie in traditional animal husbandry and generations of local cheesemaking knowledge, including the creation of Madeira requeijão by the current owner’s great-grandparents. The dairy opened in 1995 and has grown into a regional reference, earning awards and certifications while supplying hotels, supermarkets, restaurants, pastry shops, and other businesses across Madeira.
The brand makes its products with locally produced cow’s milk and emphasizes artisanal methods, without additives or preservatives. Its range includes Madeira Requeijão, certified with Protected Geographical Indication (PGI); semihard white cheese; and fresh regional cheese in regular and low-fat varieties. SantoQueijo also offers dairy desserts, including requeijão with strawberry, passion fruit, or caramel, as well as frozen Tequenhos—cheese-filled rolls—and regional Pastéis do Santo filled with requeijão and bacon or spinach. Combining respect for local traditions with product innovation, SantoQueijo serves both retail and food-service customers.
