Sapphire Dragon Orchids (SDO) is a premier boutique grower specializing in the cultivation and hybridization of coerulea Phalaenopsis orchids. Nestled in the foothills of the San Gabriel Mountains, SDO stands out with one of the largest and most diverse collections of coerulea hybrids in the world. The brand is committed to advancing the genetics and quality of these orchids through innovative breeding practices, aiming to produce larger blooms with higher flower counts.

Under the expert guidance of owner Rob Shepherd, who has been dedicated to orchid cultivation since 1984, SDO focuses on preserving early lines of coerulea species while enhancing their color and vigor. In addition to offering a limited selection of high-quality coerulea hybrids, SDO provides valuable resources for orchid enthusiasts, including a custom database for tracking collections and an online community for sharing expertise. Sapphire Dragon Orchids embodies a passion for orchids, fostering a community that promotes learning and collaboration in the art of hybridizing.
