The Sarah James Fulcher Redfish Tournament is an annual charity fishing event in Cedar Island, North Carolina, and the flagship fundraiser of the Sarah James Fulcher Foundation. Founded in 2018 in memory of Sarah James Fulcher, a Down East native remembered for her warmth, energy, and love of life, the tournament brings anglers, families, and community members together to celebrate her legacy and the island’s coastal character. Participants compete in the area’s red drum waters, with prize categories welcoming experienced anglers, newcomers, and family teams alike.
The event has grown into one of North Carolina’s largest red drum tournaments; last year, it recorded 198 registered boats, more than 4,500 attendees, and over $60,000 in prize money. Beyond fishing, tournament weekend offers live music, local food vendors, fresh seafood, and family-friendly activities. The event supports the Foundation’s mission to help ensure people can enjoy the outdoor experiences that mattered to Sarah.
Alongside fishing registration, the organization invites sponsors and donors to support the tournament and its community-focused purpose
