About SARSAS
Somerset & Avon Rape & Sexual Abuse Support (SARSAS) provides a range of support services for individuals aged 13+ who have been affected by rape or sexual abuse at any point in their lives. Their helpline, e-support, and live chat services offer a safe and non-judgmental space to seek support and information. The helpline is staffed by specially trained women volunteers who are available on Mondays and Fridays from 11am to 2pm, and on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays from 6pm to 8pm.
They provide a listening ear, 100% belief, and guidance to help you explore your thoughts, feelings, and options. The helpline is completely confidential, and calls to their 0808 numbers are free and won't appear on your phone bill. If you're unable to reach the helpline during their opening hours, there is a 24-hour answer machine where you can leave your details to be called back.
In case of an emergency, you can contact the national Rape Crisis helpline, which is open every day of the year. SARSAS also offers live chat services, providing a free and confidential space for emotional text support and information. During opening hours, a chat box will appear on their website where you can connect with one of their support workers.
Live chat is available on Tuesdays from 12pm to 2pm and 6pm to 8pm, Wednesdays from 6pm to 8pm, and Thursdays from 12pm to 2pm and 6pm to 8pm. All services are open to individuals of all genders, ages 13 and above, and they welcome trans and non-binary callers
