About Satellic
Satellic is the main toll operator in Belgium. They were appointed in July 2014 by the three Belgian Regions to collect tolls from Heavy Goods Vehicles weighing over 3. 5 tonnes and N1 BC vehicles.
In less than two years, Satellic designed, built, financed, and made operational a complete kilometre charging system. They are currently operating and managing this system. Selected through a public tender procedure by the regional Belgian authorities, Satellic was chosen for its unique expertise.
As a Belgian joint venture between T-Systems and Strabag, they have vast experience in all aspects of deploying an intelligent kilometre charging system. Their On Board Unit uses satellite positioning technology (GNSS) along with mobile (GSM) and dedicated short-range communication (DSRC). The Satellic kilometre charging system was launched on October 1, 2015, and they have more than 600,000 active OBUs installed in trucks coming from 100 different countries.
With between 130,000 and 140,000 heavy goods vehicles subject to toll using the Belgian road network daily, Satellic is the undisputed technological leader in this field
